Now, the big question is, will it stand a chance against J.J. Abrams movie in terms of revenue?

Box Office Pro recently revealed its prediction for “The Last Jedi” first-weekend gross, and it looks like it is lower than “Episode 7.”

A box office hit movie in the making

Box Office Pro predicted that “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will earn $215 million in its first three days in the U.S., Game Spot reported.

In the course of its run, it might earn up to $760 million. These dividends might be lower compared to the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” first weekend that gained $247 million and $936.6 million domestic gross. But being the first movie in the sequel trilogy, this is not impossible. In fact, “Episode 7” holds the record of being the highest-grossing movie in U.S.

Box Office Pro also foresees that “Episode 7” family theme will be a big help for the movie. The new characters in the “Star Wars” franchise might entice new and young viewers while the iconic stars like Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and General Leia Organa (the late Carrie Fisher) invite the older generation.

Another big point for the film is the directorial stint and writing abilities of Rian Johnson. With his impressive list of projects like “Looper” and some of the best “Breaking Bad” episodes, fans could never go wrong.

Surpassing other box office hits

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” earned $2.06 billion worldwide, thus it is deemed to be the third highest-grossing movie of all time.

“Episode 7” is now following James Cameron’s two gigantic films, “Avatar” that earned a whopping $2.78 billion and “Titanic” with a total net worth of $2.18 billion.

This year, the recently revealed “Fast & Furious 8” has earned $98.8 million while “Wonder Woman” got $103.3 million in their first weekends at the U.S. box office. So, it is quite expected that “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is going to surpass these movies’ gross.

“Episode 8” is set to be released on December 15 in the U.S. Once again, fans are about to see Rey (Daisy Ridley) as she takes the adventure on finding her real self while preparing to be a Jedi under the training of the Jedi master himself Luke Skywalker. The film’s tickets are now available.
