With just a few days before the second season of “Riverdale” debuts, the show has revealed a new important character heading for the little town. New actors have been added since the production for the next installment started but it’s really big news when they’ve revealed that another Cooper is going to appear.
“Riverdale” is a teen drama television series based on the popular “Archie Comics” and it premiered on The CW in January 2017. However, the show only adapted the characters and made the genre of the show a mystery thriller involving every character in the show.
Betty’s brother is coming to town
Remember that time in the first season when Veronica Lodge imagined that Betty Cooper’s long lost brother must be some sort of blonde Adonis? Well, the production has clearly taken that comment to heart and it was probably a way to tease the mysterious brother’s charm.
It has just been revealed by TV Line that actor Hart Denton has been added to the cast of “Riverdale” Season 2 to play the role of Betty’s long lost older brother, Chic Cooper. To those who are quite surprised with this new character, Chic was actually been introduced in “Little Archie” back in the 1960s, but just like his sister Polly Cooper, they rarely appear in the comics.
Denton has appeared in Fox series, “Lethal Weapon” and also played a supporting role in the American comedy film, “Fun Mom Dinner.” The young actor finally gets a big break after joining the cast of the popular teen drama series, acting alongside KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, and more.
Chic Cooper set to make trouble
Theories over Betty’s secret brother roamed the internet months ago and now that it has been debunked that Joaquin DeSantos is her brother. Could Chic actually be Alice Cooper's love child with another man? This theory goes back to that time when F. P. Jones almost blurted out something from Alice past’s as a member of the Southside Serpents and Chic might as well be the baby that Hal Cooper wanted Alice to get rid off back in their teens.
“Riverdale” Season 2 has yet to reveal the real story behind Chic, but the cast has already hinted that Betty’s brother will be stirring up trouble. Casting details revealed that Chic grew up in foster care but his character will be shrouded with mystery and darkness.
Aside from Chic, more new characters will be introduced including another Southside character named Toni Topaz, who will be portrayed by actress Vanessa Morgan.
She will become a huge threat to Betty and Jughead Jones’ relationship. Based on the official trailer, "Riverdale" Season 2 will be picking up immediately where the first season left off and the first episode of the second season, which is titled "Chapter Fourteen: A Kiss Before Dying," will air on Oct. 11 on The CW.
