The premiere of "Riverdale" Season 2 is just around the corner and with it comes the arrival of several new characters. For one, there's Mark Consuelos' Hiram Lodge, who brings his shady dealings back home to Riverdale. There's also the addition of Vanessa Morgan's Toni Topaz, who is reportedly coming around to cause some major relationship trouble between Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse). Back in the Season 1 finale, Jughead was welcomed into the South Side Serpents, a move that was so unexpected that Betty couldn't help but be shocked.

This move to the south side of the town alone is driving a wedge between the two star-crossed lovers, given that Jughead is now attending a different high school. But now, it looks like the two lovebirds are encountering even more trouble thanks to a South Side Serpent, Toni Topaz.

A new love triangle will form

When "Riverdale" Season 2 premieres this October, viewers will get to see a new love triangle form between Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, and Toni Topaz. Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Tonight back in July that while Bughead is "pretty strong, and pretty undeniable, and pretty epic," that doesn't mean the pair won't experience their own set of challenges.

He said, "Even the most epic of romances has trouble—and trouble often comes as a third party."

Toni Topaz will make the moves

It looks like Vanessa Morgan's Toni Topaz is one trouble-maker who is determined to get close to Jughead Jones.

The 25-year old-Canadian "Finding Carter" actress told Bustle that her character will "stir it up a bit for Bughead" in "Riverdale" Season 2. She also shared that she will be "one of Jughead's first friends" in the South Side and will definitely "bring a bit of trouble." She explained, "I'm the girl in the gang. My character is badass, and Jughead is the son of the King Serpent...

why wouldn't I [welcome] him?"

Lili Reinhart hints at trouble for Bughead

Toni Topaz's addition to "Riverdale" Season 2 may spell trouble for Bughead, as Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper on the show, hinted at "really intense" moments between her character and Jughead. She shared to W Magazine, "Betty is going through a traumatic situation, and your heart goes out to her." It's still unclear what exact "traumatic" experiences Betty is going through when the sophomore season arrives, but viewers should tune to The CW on October 11 at 8 PM to find out.
