There's a whole lot of new mysteries surrounding "Riverdale" Season 2, and some of them were mysteries that were cracked open during the last season's finale. The primary question now is, will Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) survive his shooting? It's highly unlikely, given the new promo that was released just this week, featuring Archie (KJ Apa) holding a gun and setting out to hunt someone down. Presumably, he's hunting down the man responsible for shooting his father at Pop's, who some are speculating is Hiram Lodge. The man just got released from jail and is heading back to Riverdale to be with his wife, Hermione, and daughter, Veronica.
It was previously revealed that Hiram has some "dark dealings" and it's likely that he had a hand in the attempted murder of Fred Andrews. While this may spark a war between the North Side and South Sides of Riverdale, another character will find herself at the center of all the chaos, this time in the form of Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart).
Lili Reinhart hints at dark Betty
When "Riverdale" debuted earlier this year, we saw goody two-shoes Betty (Lili Reinhart) turn dark when she sought out revenge on Chuck Clayton, who harassed some girls at school, including Betty's sister, Polly. Betty seemed to have transformed into someone else, taking pleasure in hurting Chuck that even Veronica was caught off guard.
Reinhart told Comic Book (via Digital Spy) that while she thinks "Dark Betty...doesn't exist anymore," her character's "darkness" will "envelops her a little bit" in "Riverdale" season 2. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as Reinhart admits that "Betty is...a very big focal point of the mystery in season 2." Of course, having a mystery revolve around Betty will "[take] a toll on her, just like it did with Cheryl in season one." Reinhart further hinted that Betty will get dragged into something that will "[push] her to the limit."

Betty Cooper caught between the North and South Side war
It's evident that a war is brewing between the North Side and South Sides of Riverdale, and it's unsurprising that Jughead (Cole Sprouse) is caught in the middle of it.
Jughead has been transferred to a South Side school in which he surprisingly fits in. This will definitely drive a wedge between him and his girlfriend, Betty, who may also find herself between two sides, given the "ice queen" attitude of her mother, Alice Cooper. Fans would also recall Alice's interaction with FP Jones, Jughead's father who is a South Side Serpent. The previous season already hinted at what could be a past relationship between the pair, which fans are hoping to find out more about when "Riverdale" season 2 premieres on October 11 on The CW.
