Rachel Platten graced “Megyn Kelly Today” and performed her newest hit titled “Broken Glass.” She also talked about how she survived rejection in the music industry.
Platten rose to fame with her single titled “Fight Song.” She released her newest album “Waves” on October 27. The song she performed on “Megyn Kelly Today” is the lead track off this album and was released on August 18.
The lyrics of the song reads, “I’m on a highway full of red lights / I lost so many long nights / Felt words that cut like knives / I know, I know they’re gonna... say what they want.”
Kelly shared that the song was made “for women who will not be silent.” It is also dedicated to women who are changing the world “without fear.” The singer is also dedicating the song to young girls who are “embracing their most authentic selves.”
Platten performed the song in front of the live audience in the studio after she graced the stage of “Today,” a morning show aired on NBC a few hours before “Megyn Kelly Today.” She presented the song in the morning program with a live band and with the hosts participating on stage, Today reported.
She shared that releasing the album could not have been possible without the people who “loved and supported” her along the way. A fan named Ashley was called to the stage during the morning show and received a hug from the singer.
‘Fight Song’ singer
Her previous song “Fight Song” reached the top places on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. It also earned the top spots on the hit charts in the United Kingdom and in many parts of the world. The songstress received an Emmy Award for her live performance of the song on “Good Morning America.”
“Fight Song” also became the official anthem of the 2016 presidential bid of former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. Now that she has released another song “Broken Glass,” it is set to make waves among her fans and followers just like her previous hits did.
“Especially as women, we are told to sit still, be quiet and what we’re learning is that we can’t do that anymore... And how it becomes easier to support one another, when we lift each other up,” Platten told Kelly before her performance.
Stories of rejection
Rachel Platten also spoke to Megyn Kelly about taking risks and experiencing rejection sometime during her music career.
She said that women should “be brave, use their voice and be kind to one another.”
