Sometimes next year or the one after that, HBO will see the final and hopefully epic conclusion of their planned eight-season fantasy TV series “Game of Thrones.” When that is done, its production posse and cast will soon be moving on to their next big things. Among them is British actress Sophie Turner, who plays the naïve child-turned-political player Sansa Stark. Despite her filming schedule for “Thrones,” Turner has also managed to squeeze in other activities, like playing Jean Grey in “X-Men: Apocalypse” and upcoming “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” as well as being in a relationship with singer Joe Jonas.

And what an epic next stage for Sophie then that after wrapping up her role as Sansa, she and Joe will tie the knot.

Saying yes

It was a major joint announcement made by Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner on Sunday, October 15, when the two declared their engagement. Most telling is the Instagram posts by Jonas, 28, and Turner 21, showing a photo close-up of their clasped hands, with hers atop his and a beautiful double-band wedding ring on her finger. The music artist captioned his with a frank “She said yes.” For her part, Sophie wrote on her post, “I said yes.”

The two were first publicly revealed to have been dating since December of the previous year, with Sophie just winding into the final months of filming for “Game of Thrones” season 7 and Jonas still riding the high of the release of his new group, DNCE’s self-titled debut album in November.

Despite their hectic calendars, Turner remarked that they were very happy in their relationship, even with the expected increased scrutiny by their respective fans. “You do feel like you’re living in a fishbowl,” she remarked, adding how incredulous she was that even the most normal things they have done as a couple – like adopting a dog – ends up in the news.

Flood of greetings

Following the engagement reveal, congratulations have started flooding social media channels for both Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas. Among the early-bird greeters were Joe’s family, namely his brothers and former band-mates Nick and Kevin, the latter joined by his own wife Danielle. Their parents also chimed in, with Mama Denise Jonas welcoming Turner as her newest daughter.

Comments on their Instagram posts by fans tended, true to form, to make references of Sophie’s role as Sansa in “Game of Thrones,” with felicitations for her as Lady of Winterfell and well-wishes for her being joined to the House of Jonas.

Turner’s last hurrah as Sansa with “Game of Thrones” will not be until late next year or early 2019 on HBO. More certain is the premiere date of Fox’s “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” with her as Jean Grey, set for November 2, 2018.
