The new season of "Grey's Anatomy" has presented us with a valuable insight on what to expect for the rest of the episodes. But more than that is the subtle, compelling existence of new love stories that demand deeper understanding. "Grey's Anatomy Season 14" episode 4 showed us a glimpse of a budding romance with all the warning signs written above. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) shared a special bond after the former underwent brain surgery.
Andrew DeLuca and Amelia Shepherd
Grey's Anatomy fans knew well that Andrew hasn't had any luck with his previous relationships.
Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) didn't do anything good for this hopeless romantic doctor. Amelia, on the other hand, is on the verge of letting Owen (Kevin McKidd) move on with his life.
But when Amelia emerged from a delicate surgery to remove the tumor in her brain, it's DeLuca who's been at her side. Amelia's marriage to Owen has not been perfect. In fact, she thinks that he married the "tumor" and not Amelia herself. Plagued with jealousy and anxiety over the arrival of Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), she develops a subtle compassion for Andrew DeLuca.
Relationship that is doomed
As interesting as it may seem, the possibility of the two doctors leveling up the budding relationship is very unlikely.
PopSugar reveals that Amelia's characteristic is being portrayed as a feisty, intelligent and levelheaded doctor. Compared to DeLuca who has been nothing but a "floating character" in the scene, the chemistry lacks texture to even consider it becoming a thing.
"Grey's Anatomy" writers have an exceptional way of creating situations that eventually winds up a character to the other.
In the case of Amelia and Andrew, she is still married to Owen and her husband is also their colleague. They have common friends at the hospital and Amelia is still recovering from her surgery. None of the doctors have seen anything special between the two and Owen still get to bring home her wife after careful persuading.
Meanwhile, Maggie and Jackson Avery's (Jesse Williams) relationship has that been of step-siblings.
But "Grey's Anatomy Season 14" has hinted, it could be more than that. Maybe not the most interesting love story in the series but the gravity of its existence also lies on the fact that Jackson has a baby with April Kepner (Sarah Drew) who is also a fellow doctor in the hospital.
