Potterheads are in for some new mysteries to be uncovered when "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" returns for its second installment. A new image teased Nicolas Flamel's arrival.

Nicolas Flamel joins ‘Fantastic Beasts’

Earlier this month, new characters and cast members were announced for the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts” story. One of which is Nicolas Flamel, a character who is familiar with the “Harry Potter” fans. He was mentioned in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” the alchemist who discovered the Philosopher’s Stone Lord Voldemort was going after so he could be immortal.

It will be the first time that the character will actually appear in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Mexican actor and theater director, Brontis Jodorowsky, will play the character. Jodorowsky is known for his roles in Movies “The Darkness” and “The Dance of Reality.”

What would be Nicolas’ role?

The official social media accounts of “Fantastic Beasts” posted a mysterious image that looks like a small case or a book with a small lock and key that has the letters “NF.” The caption reads, “The only known maker of the Philosopher’s Stone. What other mysteries may be locked away?”

That could only mean that the book or the case belongs to Nicolas Flamel. It seems that he would be playing an important role, whatever mystery is going to be revealed from the book or case.

Gellert Grindelwald, which will be played by Johnny Depp, might be after it after his escape from MACUSA, according to Movie Pilot. In addition, it might be related to the secrets of Obscurials.

In “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” it was mentioned that Flamel is friends with Albus Dumbledore.

“Fantastic Beasts 2” will feature a younger Albus, so it would be interesting to see how the characters would actually interact.

Other new cast members

In addition to Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), some of the new characters of “Fantastic Beasts 2” would be familiar to Potterheads, according to Pottermore. These include the surnames Travers and Rosier, which belonged to Death Eaters who served He Who Must Not Be Named.

Derek Riddell was cast to play Torquil Travers and Poppy Corby-Tuech to portray Rosier. Also joining the cast members are Wolf Roth as Spielman, Victoria Yeates as Bunty, and Cornell S. John as Arnold Guzman. Jessica Williams and Fiona Glascott have also been cast, but their roles are yet to be revealed.

Eddie Redmayne is returning to reprise his role as Newt Scamander, along with Johnny Depp (Grindelwald), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein) and Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski).

“Fantastic Beasts 2” is scheduled to premiere on November 16, 2018.
