The sequel to the widely successful "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is definitely underway and it looks like the untitled film has gained yet another significant character from the "Harry Potter" franchise. It has been confirmed that Nicolas Flamel will be making an appearance along with the famed Philosopher's Stone.

Nicolas Flamel joins 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel

It has already been revealed that Albus Dumbledore will be a major part of "Fantastic Beasts 2". Jude Law is set to portray Harry Potter's former headmaster who gets into a major battle with Johnny Depp's Gellert Grindelwald.

However, Dumbledore will not be alone in the fight against his greatest nemesis.

According to Pottermore, Brontis Jodorowsky has been cast as Nicolas Flamel in the "Fantastic Beasts" sequel. Although it is unclear whether Flamel will play a large role in the movie, the news certainly has "Harry Potter" fans excited for the film.

Who is Nicolas Flamel?

He is more than just another character that randomly showed up in J.K. Rowling's books. According to the author, Flamel is an actual historical figure from the 14th century who managed to create the Philosopher's Stone. By using the Elixir from the stone, he lived a very long life. Some wizards even believe that the possibly immortal inventor is still alive, as evidenced by reported sightings for several centuries up until the present.

Flamel was repeatedly mentioned in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" although he did not appear in the film adaptation. Luckily, the character will finally show up in "Fantastic Beasts 2" to help Dumbledore face Grindelwald, who also happens to have some allies of his own.

The future Death Eaters

Nicolas Flamel is not the only familiar character in "Fantastic Beasts 2." It has also been revealed that Derek Riddell will play Torquil Travers while Poppy Corby-Tuech has been added as Rosier.

"Harry Potter" fans will recognize the names which also belong to Death Eaters that worked for Lord Voldemort. However, Riddell and Corby-Tuech's characters are expected to be the ancestors of the future Death Eaters who pledge allegiance to Gellert Grindelwald. Hopefully, Nicolas Flamel and Albus Dumbledore will be able to deal with the villains.

The "Fantastic Beasts" sequel does not have an official title yet. However, the film is already scheduled to premiere on November 16, 2018.
