BTS released their latest album over a month ago but the hype over it clearly hasn’t died down yet. Thanks to their huge international fan base and unparalleled popularity, the idol group's new song continues to chart in Billboard and they've even created a new milestone.
The popular K-Pop group that is also fondly called Bangtan Boys or Beyond The Scene, released their fifth extended play (EP) album titled “Love Yourself: Her,” in September. The main track of their latest album, which is titled “DNA,” has been gaining attention worldwide.
'DNA' slays world music charts
As soon as BTS released their new extended play, the title track entered Billboard’s Hot 100 music chart, which was a first for any K-pop boy group. “DNA” debuted on the music chart at no. 85 and peaked at no. 67, beating Wonder Girls’ record peak at no. 76. The main track is currently in its fourth weak at no. 98, with international artists Florida Georgia Line and Billy Currington trailing behind.
The idol group has been making headlines in the international music scene since they nabbed last year’s Top Social Artist Award at the Billboard Music Awards. Canadian singer Justin Bieber held on to the title for six consecutive years.
BTS’ latest album has been gaining love all over the world that aside from their title track, the album itself debuted at no.
7 on Billboard and took the top spot on iTunes in more than 73 countries. Their recent Billboard feat made them the Asian artist to attain the highest rank on Billboard, taking over Filipino artist Charice Pempengco’s record in 2010.
BTS creates another milestone
The idol group is known for breaking records one after another and their latest album created several various milestones for the boys.
Aside from taking top spots on music charts all over the globe, their new extended play, “Love Yourself: Her” has landed the title as the best-selling album in South Korea to date.
The new album sold over 1.2 million copies within the country in its first month, according to South Korea’s Gaon Album Chart, and it has already sold an estimated 5.5 million copies worldwide.
With this huge feat, the idol group earned the title of having the biggest selling Korean album by month in the past 16 years, coming close to G.o.d’s album sales record in 2001.
“Love Yourself: Her” was released in four versions, but all of them consisted of nine new songs included the title track, “DNA, but there are two bonus songs available on the physical album. The album also includes “Best of Me,” which was a collaboration single with The Chainsmokers’ Andrew Taggart.
