Why ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ was renewed

Variety reported that the mandate to renew for Season 5 came from Disney. The ABC network’s decision to end the series after four seasons was immediately dissolved. As ABC changed its course, Disney did not specifically reveal the reason behind this renewal.

Some report says that it is probably because they still believe in the capacity of the showrunners.

S.H.I.E.L.D is a spin-off series that instantly caught the viewers’ attention when it debuted in 2013. However, ABC network believed that putting an end to the series (despite the success in Season 4) would be the best option.

The fourth season debuted Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also introduced the technological enemy called Life Model Decoys (LMD) and the framework, which S.H.I.E.L.D agents successfully defeated in the end.

Furthermore, the decline in ratings did not hinder the series’ renewal. One cannot deny that it is the most successful Marvel series to date. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" Season 5 will be aired after ABC airs eight episode of Marvel’s “Inhumans.”
