Marc Anthony is using his voice to call for help on behalf of his fellow Puerto Ricans who are currently experiencing a crisis after Hurricane Maria hit the territory. The devastating typhoon made landfall and battered Puerto Rico just a few days ago.

The natural disaster has left thousands of people homeless and has knocked out electricity across the entire U.S. territory.

Puerto Rico has also experienced heavy flooding that is expected to put the island into deeper financial crisis.

Puerto Rico battered by Hurricane Maria

Felix Delgado, Mayor of Catano, admitted that it will take them several months to recover from the devastating typhoon given the current economic status of the island. In fact, the government had warned that Puerto Rico was running out of money even before the U.S. territory was hit by the typhoon.

But despite the unfortunate situation, politicians encouraged their constituents to remain resilient. "We are stronger than any hurricane," Ricardo Rossello said, according to ABC.

"Together, we will rebuild."

The governor also asked Donald Trump to declare Puerto Rico a disaster zone to allow federal aid to provide help. The U.S. president, however, failed to give an immediate respond to the needs of Hurricane Maria victims.

Trump slams NFL players who joined 'Take A Knee' movement

Instead of doing something to address the crisis in the U.S. island, the POTUS spent his weekend on Twitter criticizing NFL players for protesting during the national anthem. The leader was almost unstoppable when he attacked the football league in general for allegedly disrespecting the American flag.

Donald Trump even called on fans to boycott NFL and suggested that sports fans should stop their support for the football league.

His tirade against the NFL came after NBA's Stephen Curry frankly said that he would decline if the U.S. president would invite Golden State Warriors to visit the White House.

The POTUS even withdrew an invitation that was never formally made after hearing the two-time MVP's statements.

His online rant drew mixed reactions from both his supporters and critics, who shared their own take on the issue. Marc Anthony, however, has had enough of Donald Trump's beef with NFL players and suggested that the leader should attend other important issues, specifically the crisis in Puerto Rico, instead of attacking these athletes.

The 49-year-old singer is of Puerto Rican descent and was born in New York. In a video message, Marc Anthory reassured his fellow Puerto Ricans that help is on the way and asked them to remain strong.

“I know that in moments like this it’s easy to get desperate and feel like you’re alone, but you’re not. We’re on our way and we’re going to come out of this stronger than ever, trust me," he said.
