“The Blacklist” Season 4 ended with Mr. Kaplan’s (Susan Blommaert) death, but she made sure that she had destroyed Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington’s (James Spader) empire. Aside from that, Mr. Kaplan also assured that the mysterious suitcase would be delivered safely to Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Keen (Megan Boone) through his husband, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold).
As Red is now left with nothing, the coming “The Blacklist” Season 5 is said to start with the rebuilding of everything he had lost. In an interview with TV Line, series creator Jon Bokenkamp talked about the television show’s future.
The rebuilding of Red’s lost
“Liz is safe, but Reddington is now broke,” Jon Bokenkamp told TV Line.
The 43-year-old producer revealed that Red has nothing left from his possessions. He lost everything from his money to his relationships just to save her daughter.
So in “The Blacklist” Season 5, he is going to rebuild everything he had lost, and the series creator promised that it would be a “total blast.” Megan Boone’s character, on the other hand, is still in the process of accepting that Red is her real father.
Jon Bokenkamp also revealed that Liz is now terrified of becoming like Red. As she knows that his blood is running on her, she is afraid that she might also have dark and violent tendencies.
At the start of the television show, Liz is going to instill in her mind that she is a good cop and she will never be like his real father.
The mysterious luggage
In “The Blacklist” Season 5, Tom and Liz will finally be reunited. Jon Bokenkamp also teased that his homecoming will be like no other.
To recall, Mr. Kaplan asked Tom to bring a suitcase to Liz safely the moment that they will see each other again, Music Times reported.
However, it looks like Tom will be curious of the suitcase’s content. In the television show’s new teaser photo, Ryan Eggold’s character can be seen opening the luggage to see what it mysteriously hides inside. And from there on, Tom has no idea of the madness that he just gets into.
It has been revealed that the travel case holds some skeletal pieces that are said to be from Liz’s mother.
Tom will be then puzzled why Mr. Kaplan would want Liz to see and have this. He will eventually solve the puzzle and learn that it has a connection with Red. As Tom is known for thinking of Liz’s safety first, he might destroy the suitcase, so it won’t cause any problem to her wife and everyone.
“The Blacklist” Season 5 episode 1 “Smokey Putnum” will premiere on Sept. 27 on NBC.
