Taylor Swift is gearing up for her big debut this November by dropping some new tracks from her upcoming album. So far, we’ve had a taste of her music with “Look What You Made Me Do.” The pop star launched a lyrics video after three days of teasing her social media followers with cryptic snake videos. Following this, she launched the record-breaking music video at the VMAs despite not appearing at the event. Following the initial success of the track, she’s treating her fans to yet another song.
‘...Ready For It?’
Most fans weren’t ready when Swift decided to launch yet another track from her “Reputation” album.
The new track called “...Ready For It?” is another prime example of Swift trying out a new musical style. This sultry song is different from her previous diss track wherein she sang about one of her ex-lovers. With Swift being as cryptic as she is, we still have no idea of the person she’s singing about. However, most fans are pointing to fellow singer Harry Styles as the two had an explosive relationship a few years back.
Meanwhile, others are stating that the song is about DJ Calvin Harris or even her current boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. Until the pop star shares just who exactly who the song is about, fans and critics will have to keep guessing and analyzing her track. The same as “Look What You Made Me Do,” “...Ready For It” is now available on iTunes as part of a preorder for her upcoming album, “Reputation.” You can listen to the song below to learn more.
Todrick Hall claps back
That aside, one of the “Look What You Made Me Do” dancers responded to the criticism after being called a “sellout.” In fact, Yahoo writes, "the openly gay performer (was accused) of betraying both the black and LGBTQ communities just for associating with Swift." Performer Todrick Hall was featured as a key dancer in one portion of the music video and it isn’t that surprising as he's one of Swift’s closest friends.
The singer has his own popular YouTube channel and has taken part in shows such as “American Idol, “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and he even portrayed Lola in “Kinky Boots.”
Speaking to Yahoo, Hall explained that he didn’t do the Taylor Swift music video for money. Instead, he accepted the offer as the pop star is one of his friends, and she only wanted people she trusted in her video.
He added that he was “proud” to be there, but money wasn’t a factor for him. Strangely enough, Hall also mentioned that he has friends who were upset with him for 'friending' a white person. The performer stated that this thought was very "disheartening."
