Last year, "Suicide Squad" caught people's attention as one of the more unique superhero films to hit the big screen. It also brought together a number of Hollywood's biggest bankable stars, including Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, and Viola Davis, among others, in memorable roles that fans are hoping they would reprise for a sequel.
Speaking of the sequel, "Suicide Squad 2" will also be followed by a spin-off featuring Leto's Joker and Robbie's harley quinn. IGN reported that Warner Bros. is in fact in final negotiations with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa for the spin-off.
Meanwhile, Leto has been confirmed to return as The Joker in "Suicide Squad 2," which is set to be directed by Gavin O'Connor. Recently, Robbie opened up about how she wants Harley Quinn and Joker's relationship to end, hinting that it will involve some conflict.
Relationship has to 'end in flames'
When it comes to The Joker and Harley Quinn's toxic relationship, actress Margot Robbie thinks that there's no happy endings in sight for the pair. She told Bang Showbiz (via IGN) that "Their love story has to end in flames...it just wouldn't be right [if it didn't]." This doesn't necessarily mean that either one has to die, as Robbie is set to star in "Gotham City Sirens" after "Suicide Squad 2."
Margot Robbie on Hollywood's obsession with aesthetic
As Margot Robbie is currently taking a break from her fully made-up Harley Quinn character that she'll reprise in "Suicide Squad 2," she's busy promoting her latest film, "I, Tonya," where she plays the titular character.
She recently opened up about her frustration on how Hollywood is obsessed with physical appearance, recalling her work in "Wolf of Wall Street," where she starred with Leonardo DiCaprio. She shared to Wonderland Magazine (via Page Six) that in the film, she played "the hottest blonde ever" despite the fact that to her, she was not.
She also shared that it was "frustrating" having to be stereotyped as the pretty girl, because a person who assumes this would "totally discredited the work I did and it’s not fair." She described her character, Duchess as "so high-tempo sexy" that she felt people would fail to see her real acting talent. Robbie is set to appear in "Goodbye Christopher Robin" and next year's "Terminal" and "Mary Queen of Scots." She's also set to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in "Suicide Squad 2," which as of press time does not have a release date set in stone yet.
