Spoiler alerts suggest that Reed Helstrum and Mattie Ashby will gain allies in their teen romance on "The Young and the Restless." Although their parents want to keep them apart, Charlie will support his twin, and Hilary is going to aid and abet the budding romance between the star-crossed lovers.
Victoria Lily and Cane want the teens to stay apart
Earlier in the week, Reed talked to his mother, and Mattie spoke to both her parents about wanting to continue their friendship. Cane absolutely does not want his daughter dating Victoria's son. Lily and Vicky have no problem with each other's children; they simply want the young couple to take it easy because of the drama between the families.
This only causes the teenagers to sneak around in order to see each other.
At the Athletic Club, Cane is discussing his daughter with Hilary and has no clue she is at the coffee house holding hands with Reed. The teens are discussing how they can continue to see each other without the prying eyes of the adults in their lives. As they are parting, they kiss and do not see Ms. Curtis watching them from around the corner with a smirk of satisfaction on her face.
Hilary and Charlie to the rescue
Hilary is playing every angle that will benefit her personally. She is working with Cane in order to keep Jordan and Lily apart but is withholding from him the fact that his daughter is getting hot and heavy with Victoria's son.
After Reed departs, Ms. Helton pretends to be a concerned aunt, pointing out to Mattie that her dad is only trying to keep Reed away from her because he hates Victoria. Hilary tells the teen that because they were once family, she will keep her secret.
Meanwhile, Charlie is at home trying to cover for his twin with their mother.
When Lily questions him about why Mattie has not arrived from school, he says she is with the drama department. When his mom asks if her daughter is performing, Charlie nervously says his sister is doing research and even appears to be reading notes that are written on his hand. Initially, Reed and his girlfriend's twin were at odds with each other but later called a truce.
Now it seems that both he and Hilary are on the side of young love.
It seems, at least for now, that both Mattie's twin and her former aunt through marriage are willing to keep the secret. Hilary will remain quiet as long as it benefits her agenda, but Charlie will most likely remain loyal to his sister. Fans of "The Young and the Restless" realize that eventually the truth will come out, but for now, it's nice to have a young couple in love who are worth rooting for.
