The first semi-finals results night of “America’s got talent” had five acts advancing into the final round of the competition. During the show’s September 6 episode, it was a sad moment for those eliminated, and a joyous moment for the acts that made it through, Goldderby reported.

The first act that was announced to move to the final round of the competition was Darci Lynne Farmer, the singing ventriloquist from Oklahoma. During her performance, her puppet complained about being stuck in an elevator with another puppet. The whole act was a rendition of “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman,” which judge Simon Cowell gushed about.

Then, comedian Preacher Lawson was announced to advance to the final round of “America’s Got Talent.” This stand-up comedian from Portland, Oregon started writing jokes when he was 16 years old before gracing the stage with his humor, his official website said. Lawson was named 2015 Funniest Comedian in Florida, and he also won the Seattle International Comedy Competition in 2016.

One of the cutest moments during the results night was the announcement of the third act to advance, dog act Sara and Hero. During their performance, Hero pretended to perform resuscitation upon Sara, and they started a game of volleyball together. There were also parts when they caught some frisbees and hopped on a surfboard, Goldderby reported.

Judges’ choice and Dunkin’ save

Two more acts made it through the next round of the competition. Singer and guitarist Chase Goehring was fourth to be announced after he won the judges’ choice of the night.

He hails from Tennessee and started pursuing his passion for music since he was in high school. During the semi-finals, Goehring sang an original song “What Is Love” accompanied by his acoustic guitar.

The Dunkin’ save that night was used for singer Evie Clair. The young female vocal artist played the piano as she sang an Ella Henderson hit titled “Yours.”

Sadly for some of the acts, they fell short and were eliminated from the competition. They were Yoli Mayor, gospel choir DaNell Daymon & Greater Works, Johnny Manuel, roller skating duo Billy and Emily England and subway singer Mike Yung.

Talented magician Eric Jones lost the judges’ choice, the recap article noted.

Final rounds

Next week, “America’s Got Talent” will have another round of semifinals that will feature a new set of acts that qualified from the quarterfinals. They include Celine Tam, Angelica Hale, acrobatic dancers Diavolo, light-up dancers Light Balance and mentalist Colin Cloud. On September 13, the program will announce which of these performers will move through the final rounds.

This means that the successful performers will have a one-week break before they take the stage once again to vie for the coveted title. “America’s Got Talent” is hosted by Tyra Banks, with judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel.
