Simon (Alberto Rosende) has had an incredible journey over the past two seasons of Freeform's "Shadowhunters." From a young man who has a hopeless crush on his best friend, the vampire became a hero in his own right and, in the finale of Season 2, he sacrificed his freedom to save Maia (Alisha Wainwright).

However, what fate is waiting for the Daylighter in the upcoming season of the teen urban fantasy drama? Will he become a permanent part of the Seelie Queen's (Sarah Hyland) kingdom, or will his best friend, Clary (Katherine McNamara), save him?

Simon Married To The Seelie Queen?

The Hyland's character did seem awfully interested with Simon and his existence. Simon is the only vampire who can walk in Daylight and, as a collector, the faerie desperately wanted him.

So when the Seelie Queen kidnapped his new girlfriend, Maia, Simon went to her rescue and, unbeknownst to anyone, pledged loyalty to the Seelie Court. When the battle was won, and the Shadow World was saved - at least for now - the vampire returned to the land of the faeries where his new queen welcomed him back.

"I knew you were a man of your word," the Seelie Queen said. "For better or for worse," Simon responded.

His response caused some fans to worry that he secretly married the Seelie Queen in exchange for Maia's freedom.

However, show co-runners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer insisted that it is not the case. They explained that Simon's response reflected his worries about his future in the Seelie Court.

"He has made a commitment, he’s stuck there," Slavkin told TV Line. "But also, in a literal way, he doesn’t know what she has in store for him," Swimmer added.

Getting him out of the Seelie Court will be a bigger problem. Whatever deal Simon struck with the Seelie Queen, Clary will not abandon his best friend no matter the cost.

Clary Confronts The Seelie Queen?

McNamara still does not know how Clary will react to the deal that Simon made with the faeries. However, she has a feeling that the Shadowhunter would not like it.

The 21-year-old told EW that Clary knows that the Seelie Queen, who once also tricked her, should not be trusted. Moreover, she thinks that her character will make her way to the Seelie Court soon.

"The Seelie Queen is very good at collecting powerful beings and Simon is one of those powerful beings and so moving forward, we’ll see what happens," the actor stated. "This child or woman or whatever form she takes is the one person in the Shadow World that Clary cannot give the benefit of the doubt to, and I have a feeling - or at least I hope in the future - that there will be a confrontation between the two."

Freeform has already renewed "Shadowhunters" to season 3. Just like the previous season, the next installment of the urban fantasy drama based on Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" will have 20 episodes. While the network still has not announced an exact premiere date, fans can expect Clary, Simon and the rest of the Shadow World to return to television in 2018.
