Jace's (Dominic Sherwood) death and resurrection will create a slew of new problems in "Shadowhunters" Season 3. At New York Comic Con last weekend, actor Matthew Daddario discussed whether the parabatai bond between his character, Alec, and adopted brother, Jace, has been broken by the latter's brief sojourn into the afterlife.

To recall, the season finale saw Valentine Morgenstern (Alan Van Sprang) stab Jace and summon the angel Raziel, the creator of all Shadowhunters. However, after Clary (Katherine McNamara) killed her own father and thwarted his evil plans to eliminate all Downworlders, she also asked the archangel to resurrect her lover.

The Shadowhunter warned that bringing someone back from the dead will always have serious repercussions and fans saw a hint of that when, during the final moments of the Season 2 finale, the Shadowhunter almost collapsed in pain. The consequences of his resurrection are expected to play out in "Shadowhunters" Season 3.

Alec loses his parabatai rune

But another consequence of Jace's death and resurrection might have already been revealed in the second season finale. When Valentine stabbed Jace, Alec watched the rune that binds him to his adopted brother disappear as a montage of their life together plays on-screen.

The finale did not address whether Jace and Alec lost their parabatai bond. However, Daddario assured that the dynamic between the brothers would not change - whether they have a rune binding their souls together or not.

The actor could not reveal much about the next chapter of the Freeform series, but he stated that there is going to be concern over his relationship with his brother. He also does not know how things will turn out for the two characters, but the 30-year-old is hopeful that they will retain their parabatai bond.

"I would assume that, in the end, the [parabatai] bond cannot be broken; it's not gonna break," Daddario told The Workprint.

"So, I don't know. We'll see."

He, however, hinted that the issue might not be addressed soon. In the upcoming season, Jace will be a little distant from his family and Alec has other things to attend, to like his relationship with the High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.)

McNamara added that even if the bond did not break, something has changed.

She explained that death and resurrection also changed something inside Jace.

Season 3 details
