The highly-awaited series from Starz, "Outlander" season 3, has finally premiered and the fans just can't stop talking about the first episode entitled "The Battle Joined." Based on the turn of events laid out for season 3, the title for the first episode is quite apt. In the finale of season 2, Jamie and Claire parted ways as the latter decided to go back to the real world. It was quite a tragic goodbye, as Claire believed that she would not see Jamie again as he set out to fight in the Battle Of Culloden. Little did Claire know that things would end up differently as Jamie actually survived the Battle of Culloden and set out to search for her.

Before proceeding to read the rest of the article, be advised that it contains "Outlander" season 3 episode 1 spoilers. The episode begins by showing the lead characters, played by Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, struggling with their respective battles. Jamie is still in a morbid state of mind as he comes to realize that most of his clan and family members have been wiped out in the Battle of Culloden. Meanwhile, Claire is struggling in a different era as she tries to make things out with Frank while she is pregnant.

Jamie gets borderline suicidal

With all the death and harassment happening in Jamie's world, there came a time when he wanted to die as well. There even came a point when he just wanted someone to shoot him and wipe him out from the miserable world that he was living in.

Of course, it wouldn't happen as fate has something bigger in store for Jamie. Meanwhile, in another era, Claire is feeling suffocated in the company of Frank. Her overwhelming feelings of love, trust, and friendship with Jamie makes her relationship with Frank pale in comparison.

Claire is struggling to find the feelings she once had for Frank as she tries to save their relationship as they are about to welcome a new addition to the family.

However, Claire is clearly not alone waddling in the boat of misery. Apparently, Frank also felt that something is a bit off in their relationship and is also trying his best to work things out with Claire.

Brianna's red hair

Things got more complicated when Claire finally delivers her baby and the nurse comments about the baby's red hair.

Of course, Frank and Claire both know the truth behind the baby's father. If anything, the first episode of "Outlander" Season 3 only proves that Frank and Jamie's rivalry transcended time pretty much like Jamie and Claire's love for each other.
