The iconic character of Lara Croft will once again hit the screens as the new official trailer of “Tomb Raider” has been released, Wired reported. Warner Bros chose actress Alicia Vikander to portray the lead role of the movie based on a popular video game.

“Tomb Raider” is based on an action-adventure video game of the same title which was released in 2013. Previously, there had been two movies that were made under the same franchise.

Award-winning actress, Angelina Jolie was the original Lara Croft in the movies, “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.” These movies were released in the early 2000s.

Back in theaters

Around a decade after the first movie adaption, “Tomb Raider” Lara Croft is back for another adventure. It will be another production filled with cryptograms, maps, forests, and traps as Croft searches for clues that lead to her father.

The upcoming “Tomb Raider” film follows the same storyline showing the origins of the lead character. Events happen after her father passed away, as she takes on an adventure that will take her in the middle of the sea and on a remote island off the coast of an archipelago.

The trailer began with her journey into the tomb that her father discovered, then showed scenes of being kidnapped by a group of men and explosions. Vikander’s character will solve puzzles and face a powerful storm, among many other exciting scenes.

Award-winning actress

Alicia Vikander is a Swedish actress who has won an Academy Award for her role in the movie, “The Danish Girl.” She won Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in 2016.

Among her remarkable film credits include “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” alongside “Superman” actor Henry Cavill and “Ex Machina.” She was also featured in “The Fifth Estate,” “Anna Karenina,” “A Royal Affair,” and “The Crown Jewels.”

Angelina Jolie’s “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” also won and was nominated by for various award-giving bodies.

The 2018 reboot is directed by Roar Uthaug and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

The cast members include Walton Goggins as Mathias Vogel, Hannah John-Kamel as Sophie, Dominic West as Lord Richard Croft, and Daniel Wu as Lu Ren. “Tomb Raider” is showing in cinemas worldwide in March 2018.

It will be a collaboration between production giants Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, in partnership with GK Films from producer Graham King. The film will be released in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the video game franchise.
