Last year, it was reported that Jennifer Lawrence was dating the director of her upcoming psychological film, “Mother!” A year later, the pair is still together, and the actress is not shy when it comes to both praising Darren Aronofsky and thinking that he has psychological problems.
Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky were present at the Toronto International Film Festival press conference.
They revealed some details about their upcoming film. The actress revealed that she had been a fan of the director for a long time and when the role was offered to her, it was an instant yes.
Jennifer Lawrence relationship finally tackled
But when Jennifer Lawrence read the script, she jokingly admitted that maybe Aronofsky has some psychological problems for producing such a thrilling masterpiece. She also called her 48-year-old boyfriend a brilliant man for bringing so many surreal stories to the big screen.
“Mother!” is a psychological horror film, penned and directed by Aronofsky. It tells a story of a young couple (Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem) who meets a mysterious couple (Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer).
The trailer revealed intense action and sexual scenes that may spark controversy, the same way previous Aronofsky films did.
The actress also stated before that her relationship with the director is different from her previous ones saying, “I have been in relationships before where I am just confused,” she says, “and I am never confused with him.”
‘Passengers’ actress assured of her relationship with the famous director
But if Lawrence is a fan of the “Black Swan” director, it is much more than that with an actress like Michelle Pfeiffer. Lawrence spilled the details with Vanity Fair about Pfeiffer intimidating her on set. “It took me like three days to just get over her beauty, just to go up to her and say, ‘Hi.’ She is just the most beautiful woman ever."
Then there is Penelope Cruz, who visited Javier on set.
I was just like, ‘Is there a room where I can just go hang myself?’ [Michelle] was just incredible and then when she started acting… She brought so much. I think this is her greatest role.” Lawrence said.
The actress also revealed how she tried to keep her sanity when she was shooting the film: A few episodes of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.”
This movie is one of Jennifer Lawrence’s heaviest so far. She reassured moviegoers that “Mother!” is not a jumpy film, but an assault. The film will open in theaters on September 15.
