The latest updates and spoilers for "Gotham" Season 4 will feature a confrontation between Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon, and two new trailers highlighting Scarecrow's presence and Bruce's relationship with Selina Kyle.

Batman begins in season 4

The fourth season of "Gotham" will explore Bruce Wayne's early career as a masked vigilante protecting the city from crime. While Bruce's intentions for the city are noble, one person in the show will not approve of his methods as GCPD detective Jim Gordon will be on the hunt for the future Dark Knight.

Executive producer John Stephens told DC All Access that Bruce's vigilante antics will not sit well with Jim as he is tasked to capture him by any means necessary, not knowing that his target is his friend and future ally.

He added that Jim will also deal with Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin in the show as he plans to take over Gotham after eliminating his former friend and rival, Edward Nygma.

"In the first half of the season this year, Jim Gordon is going to try to loosen penguin's hold upon Gotham," Stephens said. "He does that by forming an alliance with Sofia Falcone, who Crystal Reed is playing, and the two of them will work together to basically to try to dethrone Penguin."

Bruce's transformation into Batman will begin in season 4 after his training with Ra's al Ghul. He will wear an all-black leather outfit and mask to conceal his identity as the fans began to call it his "proto-batsuit." Bruce's activities will also have an effect on the people closest to him such as Alfred Pennyworth and Selina Kyle.

New trailers

Fox streamed two new trailers for "Gotham" season 4 that featured the first appearance of the new main villain, Scarecrow and the current status of Bruce and Selina's relationship.

The first trailer is called "Fear" as Scarecrow terrorizes the city using his signature "Fear Toxin" that manifest the victim's greatest nightmare.

Scarecrow debut in the first season as a teenaged Jonathan Crane. His father, Gerald Crane developed a formula that hallucinates a person's worst fear and tries to overcome it.

Gerald used his son as a guinea pig for his experiments and it caused serious psychological effects. He became more paranoid and started seeing a living scarecrow in front of him.

The second trailer is called "Growing Up Gotham: Bruce & Selina" and it show's the complicated history between the two. Selina is the only person who saw the murder of Bruce's parents in the pilot episode. They became friends after Jim asked Alfred for a favor at the Wayne Mansion.

Selina helped Bruce survive the mean streets of the city and in turn, she gained a trustworthy friend. Their relationship is taken to the next level as the two became closer showing signs of a romantic relationship. Unfortunately, things ended badly after Selina found out that her mother was using her connection to Bruce to gain money. Bruce knew about her mother's intentions and Selina is mad at him for allowing it to happen.

The show's fourth season will premiere on September 21.
