The drawn out wait for Batmans arrival

According to Collider, "Gotham" has been criticized in the past for its drawn out storyline surrounding the superhero Batman. However, fans have not complained as the series delves into several aspects of Bruce Wayne's story line.

The series has followed Bruce Wayne's personal journey in Gotham after the untimely death of his parents. The exploration of his character in such detail has meant that fans have had to wait while he gains the characteristics shared by superhero Batman.

The trailer reveals pieces about Bruce Wayne's journey up until Season 4. It showcases his strong relationship with Alfred and the mistakes that he has made along the way.

The poignant theme of the trailer is Bruce Wayne trying to figure out who he is supposed to be in life. Wayne is lost and this is something he clearly expresses to Alfred several times throughout the series.

By the end of the trailer, it appears that character Bruce Wayne has figured out what he is supposed to do with his life. As some teenagers are held at gunpoint a shadowed figure drops down behind the assailant and attacks him.

The person is later revealed to be Bruce Wayne donning the mask and suit one can only assume will eventually be the Batman costume fans have been waiting for.

The return of Crane

Fans of "Gotham" were shocked to see the return of Johnathan Crane to the hit TV series. Crane has not been seen on the series since Season 1, in which his father sent him spiraling into a psychotic breakdown fueled by Crane's greatest fears.

Crane is not the only character to be in the cast of Season 4 of "Gotham". Actress Crystal Reed, best known for her role in "Teen Wolf, will be appearing as Sofia Falcone. Sofia runs the Falcone operation in the North and is in Gotham to help take down Penguin.

Season 4 of "Gotham" returns to the smalls screen on September 28.
