To avoid hacks and leakages, HBO president Casey Bloys revealed that they are about to shoot multiple endings of “Game of Thrones” Season 8. Although this is a trick used by long-running and hype television shows, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays the role of Jamie Lannister, believes this is far from happening.
In an interview with Marie Claire, the 47-year-old star talked about the network’s plan. He also discussed the incestuous relationship of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
Coster-Waldau’s take on the final chapter’s multiple endings
"Do you think that's true?" Nikolaj Coster-Waldau asked Marie Claire at the Global Goals World Cup in Brooklyn.
The U.N. Goodwill Ambassador continued to say that Casey Bloys’ idea seems “stupid” to him. If ever the network’s plan pushes through, he just simply can’t believe it. He explained that he hasn’t received “Game of Thrones” Season 8’s script yet. So, until he sees that there will be multiple endings, he will accept as true.
“They're not going to waste that money,” he added. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau reasoned that HBO is not going to spend $100,000 a day to shoot an episode that it is not going to use. With that, he strongly thinks that it will never happen.
The plan to deceive hackers and spoilers
To recall, Casey Bloys suggested that “Game of Thrones” Season 8 should have multiple endings, so the hackers will be confused how the television show will really end.
This, too, is HBO’s way to avoid leakages and spoilers just like what happened in the previous season of the series based on George R.R.
Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Bloys explained to Digital Spy that they have to do this ploy in the long-running shows.
He went on to say that when they started shooting, people know what is going to happen. Thus, they have planned to produce multiple versions of the final chapter’s ending, so viewers won’t have the real answer until the show ends.
Jaime wants to shade Jon Snow’s incestuous romance with Daenerys
Aside from “Game of Thrones” Season 8’s ending, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau also revealed his interest to have a scene with Kit Harington.
He wanted Jaime and Jon Snow to have a scene where his role is going to shade him with his incestuous relationship with his aunt, Daenerys. Coster-Waldau deemed that he will receive a round of applause for the mockery. “I think Jaime should be allowed a bit of a comeback," he said.
