CBS drama "scorpion" is inspired by the real life of Walter O'Brien, who is said to have the fourth highest IQ. The series follows a team of geniuses known as Scorpion which is led by Walter (Elyes Gabel). The team consists of gifted mechanical engineer Happy Quinn (Jadyn Wong), psychiatrist Toby Curtis (Eddie Kaye Thomas), and mathematician Sylvester Dodd (Ari Stidham). Then there's Homeland Security Agent Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick), and former waitress Paige (Katherine McPhee) who helps the team interact with the "real" world, and her genius son Ralph (Riley B.
Smith). The team tackles high-tech and often dangerous threats from around the world that sometimes nearly costs them their lives.
What to expect in season 4
Season 4 will feature a storyline for Sylvester that will focus on his late wife (and Walter's sister) Megan O'Brien. Fans will remember their short-lived sweet and sad romance before Megan died in season 2. Ari Stidham shares that this doesn't mean the actress (Camille Guaty) will be returning in flashbacks. He adds that though the character won't return, the new season will heavily feature Megan. For Cabe, fans can expect to see more of the relationship he started with Allie (Reiko Aylesworth) who came back to see him after he and the team were rescued from the island.
Executive Producer Nick Santora teases what to expect for couple Happy and Toby who just got married at the end of season 3 and spent their honeymoon stranded on an island after a plane crash. As the saying goes, "first comes love, then comes marriage," fans can expect kids in this couple's future. Though, babies on "Scorpion" won't happen anytime soon. Santora adds that one of his favorite speeches by Happy is when she shares that she wants to wait outside the school for her kid.
Fans have waited a long time for Happy and Toby's wedding day, but they've waited even longer for Walter to confess his feelings to Paige. He finally does at the end of season 4 and the two finally seemed to get it right.
Nick Santora goes on to tease that Walter and Paige may have finally ended in a good place with their feelings out in the open, but that doesn't mean there's soothe sailing ahead. He's vague with the spoilers but does hint at potential hiccups and bumps, and maybe even something that will see the couple apart. Santora also shares that season 4 will explore what it will be like for a genius like Walter to be so in love with a normal, and will continue to explore Walter's difficulty with expressing his emotions.
Mark Collins to return
The season 4 premiere will feature the return of Mark Collins (Josh Leonard) as teased by CBS. Collins is a former member of Scorpion that eventually turned into an enemy and recently attempted to kill Toby.
The team will turn to Collins for help with preventing the extinction of mankind. This will likely cause a great deal of drama for every member of the team. Meanwhile, Walter and Paige will still be navigating their new relationship which is described still being in an awkward place.
The premiere episode is called "Extinction" and according to the promo, it will have a surprising musical number performed by the cast. CBS shares that the song being performed is called "Everything is Absolutely Genius." The performance is to celebrate Walter and Paige's new relationship, and to show that the fun will still be fun even though they're an official couple. The musical number will pick up where the season 3 finale left off.
"Scorpion" season 4 will premiere on CBS September 25.
