It is another bad day for the Donald Trump administration as many Americans and even Republicans disapproved the Health Care Bill and repealing the Obamacare. Overall, many senators are not in favor of Trump’s health care bill.
POTUS blames Senator John McCain
In a Monday interview on the radio program “Rick & Bubba,” Trump blamed McCain as the senator among those who voted “no” for the Republicans’ last attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare, which is also dubbed the “Skinny Repeal.” Senator John McCain, along with Sens.
Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, were among those who voted “no” in the contentious 49-51 vote on the skinny repeal.
“You can call it what you want, but that’s the only reason we don’t have it, because of John McCain,” Trump said on the program. “Without John McCain, we already have the health care,” he added.
Graham-Cassidy Proposal
Two Republican senators, Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy, are the authors of the proposed bill, which is also known as Graham-Cassidy Bill. On Monday, Sept. 25th, they vowed to replace Obamacare, even after another GOP defection hindered the passing of their bill.
"We are going to press on. It's OK to vote. It's OK to fall short, if you do, for an idea that you believe in," Senator Graham told CNN.
Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders was also one of the senators who blasted the Republican approach. A third Republican Senator, Susan Collins of Maine, announced she could not support the bill because it is not capable of protecting people with pre-existing conditions and cut Medicaid too sharply.
Collins was the third Republican who opposed the bill. Unfortunately, Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell can only afford to lose two Republican votes to pass the legislation.
Jimmy Kimmel on Graham-Cassidy Bill
Jimmy Kimmel is very vocal when it comes to discussing politics and Donald Trump's issues.
During his show, he told fans about his "emotional weekend." He joked that the Graham-Cassidy health care bill failed The Jimmy Kimmel Test. The host also talked about the people who shared their story on how Obamacare had saved the life of a family member.
The host also thanked Senator John McCain for once again being a hero on the health care issue. It can be recalled that McCain, together with Collins and Murkowski, also voted against another Obamacare repeal bill back in July. This was followed by a tweet from the president that the lawmakers who voted no failed the American people.
