Many fans of George RR Martin are thrilled to know the official “The Winds Of Winter” release date. Six years have passed since “A Dance With Dragons” was released, but no concrete details about the sixth “A Song of Ice and Fire” book have been made public as of yet.
While several reports are suggesting that “TWOW” will be launched next year, the latest remarks from the 68-year-old author are suggesting that the waiting game is far from over. Martin also revealed the main reason behind the book’s countless delays.
Author writes slower than before
George RR Martin said that his age is among the factors that hinder him from finishing “The Winds of Winter” book.
He said that he writes slower now than before.
Martin told Metro Magazine in an interview that he can no longer write fast like before, and recalled that it took him six years to complete the first-ever installment of the "Game of Thrones" book series. “These are not 1.5k pages like mine, but, for example, 500. In addition, I have not become younger. Age does not add enthusiasm," the author added.
Because of this, fans cannot help but speculate that “The Winds of Winter” might not come out before “Game of Thrones” season 7 ends. This is despite George RR Martin’s previous statements that he is focusing on writing the much-anticipated book. He even complained about not having enough time to do his hobbies, which include reading books and watching movies.
Adding fuel to fire are the reports stating that the veteran author is currently working on a short story set in Westeros called “The Sons of the Dragon,” which is a part of “The Book of Swords” series. Aside from that, Martin is also finishing all the scripts of the yet-to-be-revealed “Game of Thrones” spinoffs.
Arya Stark falls in love with Jon Snow
Meanwhile, George RR Martin revealed that Arya Stark is going to develop romantic feelings for her half-brother Jon Snow in “The Winds of Winter” book. He added that the pair will continue flirting with one another until Jon’s true identity is finally revealed in the novel.
Martin also clarified that the book and the TV series are not entirely the same.
“On the screen characters are killed right and left. About twenty of them have died already, which is quite alive to me and will appear in a new book,” he said.
