Many fans are now thrilled for the up and coming premiere of “Criminal Minds” Season 13. The last season of the popular CBS series concluded with a major car crash cliffhanger and devoted followers of the show are very eager to learn who survived the tragic accident. Now, spoilers suggest that Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) is totally returning in the imminent season.
What to expect from Spencer Reid
TV Guide confirmed that viewers would be seeing Spencer Reid again in “Criminal Minds” Season 13. The teaser for the season premiere featured Spencer, Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), and Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney) working in the office.
The trio was desperately trying to figure out a lead to find Peter Lewis (Bodhi Elfman), who is also known as Mr. Scratch, and save Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster).
Spoilers have it that Spencer will be under a probation in the forthcoming thirteenth installment. The FBI agent will also be in trouble after failing to report his secret trip to Mexico. As a matter of fact, showrunner Erica Messer previously divulged that agent Reid will need to do other tasks as a consequence to his most-recent blunder.
“We're usually ahead of the game in terms of breaking stories and stuff and we really had to be this year because of the arc for Dr. Reid,” Erica previously told TV Guide when asked about the show’s future.
“It felt like we earned the right to do a proper cliffhanger this year of all years,” she went on. The showrunner refused to confirm if everyone would survive the deadly crash.
Most fans can recall how Spencer Reid experienced all kinds of torture when the FBI agent was sent to prison after he was accused of murdering a nurse in Mexico.
Fortunately, Spencer was later released after several months of detention. However, it remains to be seen if he would be reunited with his Alzheimer’s disease-stricken mom, Diana Reid (Jane Lynch), in the series' thirteenth season.
