NBA superstar Stephen Curry won his third consecutive Best Male Athlete award at the recently concluded 2017 Teen Choice awards held Sunday night.

The basketball superstar received the “Choice Male Athlete” three times in a row since 2015. U.S. Weekly reported that Curry bested other nominees for the prize including wrestler John Cena, Cleveland Cavaliers' athlete LeBron James, soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, professional golfer Rickie Fowler, and Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout.

The Golden State Warriors superstar earned a victory in the NBA Finals.

According to Biography, Curry was one of the major factors why his team played in the Finals for a third year in a row. They faced off against Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James.

This year, the Warriors had a quick win in Game 5 with Curry scoring 34 points in a 129-120 victory. This was their second NBA championship in a matter of two years.

Ellen DeGeneres snags an award

Aside from the basketball star, television host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres snagged two awards during the 2017 Teen Choice show. She was given the Choice Comedy Movie Actress for being the voice behind Dory in “Finding Dory.”

US Magazine reported that she bested other nominees such as Anna Kendrick for “Table 19,” Gal Gadot for “Keeping Up With The Joneses,” Jennifer Hudson for “Sandy Wexler,” Tori Kelly for “Sing,” and Alexandra Daddario for “Baywatch.”

DeGeneres also won the TV Personality for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as chosen by the fans.

Nominees for this category include Anthony Anderson for “To Tell The Truth,” Blake Shelton for “The Voice,” James Corden for “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” Jimmy Fallon for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” and Tyra Banks for “America’s Got Talent,” US Magazine added.

TV category winners

Hit TV show “Riverdale” won in many of the categories that night including Breakout TV star and Breakout TV show awards.

Actress Lucy Hale of “Pretty Little Liars” was selected as best female performance, while “The Vampire Diaries” was chosen as the best Sci-Fi show, the report said.

Grant Gustin was Best TV Actor in the action category for his performance in “The Flash.” Meanwhile, Melissa Benoist is Best TV actress for her role in the television series “Supergirl.”

The 2017 Teen Choice Awards is an annual show that showcases the best talents in TV, music, and film as chosen by audience votes.
