Cody Knapek and danielle DeGroot decided to take the plunge and marry each other on the series “Married at First Sight (MAFS).” Matched by the show’s experts, the pair tried to make it work. However, their physical chemistry never seemed to catch fire. Danielle did not feel that special spark with Cody. Their marriage was never consummated while they were on the show. Despite the lack of a sexual connection, Cody and Danielle decided to stay married. Now, a year later, the tide has turned. According to US Magazine, Danielle and Cody have filed for divorce.
What went Wrong?
Viewers of the series were pulling for the couple to have a long-lasting marriage. What they didn’t seem to have, in terms of a physical connection, the duo made up for in their emotional connection. They laughed together and had fun. On the reunion show this past month, Cody said that Danielle is the funniest person that he has ever met. At that point, the two people had been married for 6 months. 6 months later, Cody and Danielle are calling it quits. They released a statement to PEOPLE magazine that they decided to divorce, but are still good friends who care about one another.
Stuck in the Friend Zone
Most viewers of MAFS are probably not surprised that Cody and Danielle ended their marriage.
The pair remained stuck in the Friend Zone for most of the series’ duration. Cody was ready to be intimate, but Danielle was not feeling enough passion to take it to the next level. Cody’s frustration over the lack of physical connection was something that he did not hold back on during his talk sessions with the experts. However, Danielle started to tire of Cody’s regular expressions of dissatisfaction over their sex life.
Throughout the show, Danielle said that her husband did not seem to be manly enough for her and wanted him to be more of take charge guy. This seemed to go against the reality of the situation. Cody owned his own gym and was a man who could handle Danielle’s two rambunctious dogs. Cody expressed on several occasions that he felt that he was doing do much and not getting enough back.
No three for three on MAFS
For the first time on MAFS, this season ended with all three couples staying married, something that had never happened before on the show. Nate Duhon and Sheila Downs and Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico and stayed married. Those couples are still together. However, Cody and Danielle’s divorce cancels the hat trick for the MAFS.
