"Married at First Sight" on Lifetime has been off the air now for a few weeks, but fans of the show still remember the three couples who agreed to stay married. At the reunion, all of them stated that they were still married. That was then, and things have changed. One couple has decided to call it quits.
Cody and Danielle
According to an Instagram post on Tuesday, August 22, Cody Knapek and Danielle DeGroot are no longer a couple after being married for a year.
Danielle confessed that the year they were married wasn't easy at all. They have mutually agreed to divorce so they can both find happiness elsewhere since they still want the best for each other. Danielle said life is short and it was a difficult decision, but it is best for both of them. She said they are still friends.
The 30-year registered dietitian thanked those who supported her and Cody, the 26-year-old gym owner. She added that she is trusting that this was God's plan for them to separate. She added that she is a big believer in love and she looks forward to what the future holds for her and Cody even though it won't be for them as a couple.
Cody shared his sentiments on Twitter where he also thanked those who followed their journey and wished them well. He and Danielle praised the experts for matching them. They said even though their marriage didn't work, they learned a lot about themselves in the process and are stronger people because of the social experience.
Their journey
Cody and Danielle got Married At First Sight on August 6, 2016. They struggled with intimacy during the entire season "Married at First Sight" was on the air. On the episode that aired on July 6, 2017, Cody and Danielle said they still had not been intimate. However, they were going to give their marriage a chance. When they announced they were divorcing, they did not give personal information about whether they ever consummated their marriage.
Fans of the show might not be surprised about Cody and Danielle's divorce because of their struggles. Viewers were surprised the couple agreed to stay married during the show's finale.
Other couples
The two other couples who were on the show are still married. Anthony D'Amico and Ashley Petta are supossedly going strong are Shelia Downs Duhon and Nate Duhon.
The two married couples from the very first season are also still together. Courtney Hendrix-Carrion and Jason Carrion are happily married. Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner welcomed a baby girl on Tuesday morning. This is great news for the couple because they had a miscarriage of a son last year.
