“Dancing With the Stars” couple Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd spent some quality time at home after their wedding before heading for their honeymoon, but it looks like it was worth the wait. According to E! News, Maks and Peta traveled to Lake Como, Italy, for their first trip without their infant son, Shai, for some much-needed newlywed time one month after exchanging “I dos” at Oheka Castle on Long Island.
But Maks and Peta weren’t entirely alone during their European getaway. Maks’ brother, fellow “DWTS” pro Val Chmerkovskiy and pals Nicole Volynets Gamer and Ilya Gamer also flew to Italy to join them for a mutual friend’s wedding.
It was the first time that Maks and Peta traveled without their son, but they still had plenty of company.
A wedding within a honeymoon
Maks and Peta revealed a lot of details about their wedding ahead of their big day, but they had kept their honeymoon plans to themselves. Now they are letting their pictures tell the story. The “Dancing With the Stars” newlyweds, who tied the knot on July 8 (the same day that “DWTS” pro Julianne Hough married her longtime love, Brooks Laich), posed for gorgeous photos in Italy before on cobblestone roads and in front of ancient stone buildings before attending the wedding of friends Ashley and Johnny, according to E! News.
A source told E! News that Maks and Peta plan to soon continue their romantic vacation in Italy by themselves after their friends and family head home to the United States.
Fairytale in New York
Last month, the wedding of Maks and Peta took place in the Long Island castle and a rainbow even peeked out of the sky after “DWTS’” royal couple exchanged vows. Baby Shai served as “prince of honor” for his famous parents, while celebrity guests like Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Rumer Willis, and Sharna Burgess rounded out the wedding party.
Because Maks and Peta didn’t head out for a honeymoon right away, some fans thought maybe they would forgo the post-wedding tradition and just stay home with their son. But now it looks like Maks and Peta wrapped their honeymoon around a gorgeous Italian wedding destination. “Dancing with the Stars” returns to ABC for its 25h season in September. There is no word if Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd will compete on the landmark season of the ABC celebrity ballroom competition.
