Comedian Kevin Hart took the initiative to raise funds for the flood victims and started the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge to collect funds. He shared his initiative on social media on Sunday, and it has received backing from multiple celebrities like Dj Khaled, The Chainsmokers who have contributed to his funds. It also led other celebrities to start their own initiatives and make donations to the different organizations that are working for the flood-affected people.

Hart begins Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge with donation of $25,000

Kevin Hart took the first step in providing relief to the flood victims by starting the Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge on social media.

Initially, he donated $25,000 to the funds and later added $25,000 more, urging his fellows from the art world to do the same. His message did affect it led to DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj contributing $25,000 to the fund. The Chainsmokers pledged a support of $30,000 as well. The latter also urged people to help the cyclone victims and shared the Red Cross link on their Twitter account. Hart’s initiative has succeeded in raising a total sum of $800,000, and all of it will go to the Red Cross.

Red Cross receives widespread support

Speaking of Red Cross, Chris Young started a fundraiser for the charity organization and also donated $100,000 to the same. Katy Perry too pitched in her support by sharing the donation link of the society on her Twitter account.

The Kardashians did not hold back either with Kris, Kim, and Khloe tweeting that they would be donating a collective sum of $500,000 to the Red Cross as well as the U.S. Salvation Army. Singer Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez also vowed to donate $25,000 to the American Red Cross.

Beyonce reaches out to her hometown

Beyonce, a native of Houston, has been deeply affected by the tragedy and is lending support to the people through her team BeyGOOD.

She has been doing extensive relief work through her pastor Rasmus and also stated in the Houston Chronicle expressing her grief and determination to help the cyclone victims. She wrote that she is in constant prayer for the people as well as the rescue workers and is working with her team to help as many people as she can. Her pastor Rasmus has also acknowledged her efforts and said that she always comes forward for her home city when it needs her and having her by their side was a real blessing in these trying times.
