Taylor Swift just dropped her new music video for “Look What You Made Me Do, ” and everyone’s been trying to find the hidden meanings behind the clip. It’s obvious that Swift still has plenty of bad blood in her mind, and that she doesn’t plan on going down without a major fight. In fact, she’s done being dragged on the ground and is instead rising from her grave through this Easter egg-filled music video.
While the clues are subtle, this pop star is targeting some big names in the industry. With that said, let’s take a look at everyone that Taylor Swift is calling out in her latest single.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian
This couple has been hounding Swift over the past year as they’ve literally sullied her reputation with the “Famous” song and infamous Snapchat clip. The pop star has decided to clap back against all the drama with the lines, “Don’t like your tilted stage,” which is a reference to West’s Life of Pablo tour wherein he was performing in a platformed stage, as per Vogue.
Similarly, her bathtub scene could be a reference to the Kardashian’s recent robbery where she was bound to the bathtub while the criminals stole her belongings.
Not to mention that Swift is owning up to the snake emoji trend that the Kardashian started with her Snapchat clip.
Calvin Harris
During the early parts of the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video, you can see one headstone has the name Nils Sjöberg. This is actually Swift’s pseudonym for when she collaborated with Calvin Harris for “This Is What You Came For.” With that being said, it’s pretty obvious that the pop singer has killed that moniker - along with the memories that came with it.
David Mueller
During the bathtub scene, Swift is laying down with a single dollar buried among the countless jewelry. This seems to be a direct reference to radio host David Mueller who reportedly groped the singer’s butt without her consent.
She filed a lawsuit against him wherein he was ordered to pay just one symbolic dollar.
Katy Perry
Of course, the Swift feud wouldn’t be one without her targeting her old nemesis: Katy Perry. During the music video, there’s a major car crash scene wherein the pop star is wearing a leopard print which might be a reference to Perry who loves cats. There’s also the inscription of “et tu, Brute” on her thrown which translates to “Even you, Brutus?” This refers to Ceasar’s betrayal which might mean Swift thinks of Perry as Brutus.
