Chelsea Handler recently took to social media to tell her fans that her beloved Rescue Dog Tammy has passed away. She explained the cause of Tammy's death and recalled the moment when she first brought her home. Tammy was a huge part of Handler's life and the star is devastated to have lost her.

Handler only had two short years with Tammy

According to Today, Chelsea Handler has announced that she has lost her rescue dog Tammy who she only adopted two short years ago. Handler first adopted Tammy two years ago when she came across the dog who had her own social media account.

When Handler first adopted Tammy, she told fans the news and stated that Tammy was a street dog who had been rescued from Mexico.

Handler expressed her immediate connection with Tammy and stated that the dog had found her forever home. It appeared that the pair were a match made in heaven and Handler often took to Instagram to share photographs of her canine friend. After only two-months of being with Chelsea Handler Tammy's Instagram, account wound up with over 20,000 followers.

Tammy often featured on the set of Handlers show alongside Handler's other dog Chuck. Fans were captivated by the beautiful canines and were devastated when Chelsea Handler announced the news that Tammy was no longer with them

According to Pop Sugar, Chelsea Handler announced her beloved rescue dog Tammy has passed away.

Handler explained that she could not bear to have her canine friend suffer anymore as she was losing the battle with her renal failure. Chelsea has stated that she is truly devastated by the loss of Tammy, and has shared that her dog would always protect her, and ensure that she was safe.

Handler had previously posted a photograph to her Instagram account where she explained that Tammy was having trouble with renal failure and stated that her family was falling apart.

While fans were concerned, they did not expect that Tammy would go downhill so quickly and eventually lose her life as a result.

Chelsea Handler has posted a photograph of Tammy to her social media accounts and stated that while she only had Tammy for two years she would not trade them for anything. She explained that though Tammy had several health issues and a difficult start to life that she a happy dog who only wanted to be loved and to love.

Chelsea Handler and her fans have had to say goodbye to the beloved canine, Handler has not made a comment about the death of Tammy since.
