During last Wednesday’s episode of “America’s Got Talent,” eight more acts advanced to the semi-finals round of the competition. Among the talents who made it through the cut were nine-year-old singer Celine Tam, vocal artist Johnny Manuel, dancer Merrick Hanna, dance group Light Balance, and ukelele player Mandy Harvey.

Two of the acts, singer Evie Clair and magician Eric Jones, also advanced to the next round by winning the Dunkin’ Save and the Judges’ Choice respectively. The NBC reality talent competition featured Circus 1903, a famous acrobatic group in Las Vegas, as their guest performers during the August 23 results show.

Eliminations

Host and supermodel Tyra Banks began by unveiling three of the acts that fell short among the rest of the performances. They were magician Eric Jones, singer Evie Clair and singing group The Masqueraders. These acts were not out of the competition, but they needed to win the choice of the judges, and the Dunkin’ Save from the show’s sponsor.

Then, Banks announced the five acts who advanced safe through the semi-finals. It included singers Celine Tam and Johnny Manuel, who belted out hit songs and offered the judges a show-stopping vocal performance during the previous episode last August 22.

Eliminated from the show were dance group Brobots & Mandroidz, animal trainer Pompeyo Family Dogs, escape artist Demian Aditya, and dance duo Mirror Image.

They all got the lowest number of votes among the entire set of performers. Furthermore, Aditya was the escape artist who suffered from a technical glitch, nearly falling into the fire pit, in the middle of his performance.

Magician Eric Jones won the Judges’ choice in a tight match against The Masqueraders in terms of the judges’ vote.

Both Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell picked The Masqueraders, tying with Jones who got two votes from Mel B and Howie Mandel. In such instance, the decision would be based on America’s votes, which were won by the magician.

More exciting episodes

Prior to the results show, “America’s got talent” got even more exciting as the judges also had their show-stopping moments.

Just as Banks asked for the judges’ comments for the performance of the escape artist, Cowell blurted out a comment that offended his co-judge, Mel B.

The male judge commented on the performance, and compared it to Mel B’s failed marriage. During that time, the female singer was facing a divorce battle with her husband Stephen Belafonte. The former “Spice Girls” member threw the Dunkin’ cup contents at Cowell, and immediately walked out of the “America’s Got Talent” stage.

The hit reality talent competition is now on its 12th season. The last set of performances for the quarterfinals will be revealed next week.
