“The Originals” Season 5 is believed to be the final season of the series. All the main cast will still appear in the last season of “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off.
Production news, who’s in and who’s out
The fifth season run of “The Originals” was officially announced on May 10, which will then be aired in 2018. The production began on July 25 and will end on Dec. 20 this year. According to Julie Plec’s announcement, “The Originals” Season 5 will be the final run of the series. The final season will be directed by Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Charles Michael Davis, while Jeffrey Lieber was tapped to replace Michael Narducci as co-executive producer of the show.
Earlier reports suggested that there will be a time jump in “The Originals” Season 5, though the exact increase isn’t clear. According to Julie Plec, the time jump would be ten years, and Joseph Morgan said it would be eight years, while Carina Adly MacKenzie said the time jump is seven years.
While the actual time jump has yet to be confirmed, it has been confirmed that Danielle Campbell, Nathaniel Buzolic, Daniella Pineda and Malaya Rivera Drew will appear in “The Originals” Season 5.

To all die-hard fans of “The Originals,” the teaser of the final season is now available online. It begins with a recap of events from the previous season along with the appearance of some “The Vampire Dairies” alums.
Season 5 teaser also gave avid fans their first look at Hope, played by Danielle Rose Russell, who is now a teenager promised to preserve her family legacy and to keep them together.
Aside from new faces, avid fans will get to see a familiar face from “The Vampire Diaries” for the spinoff’s final run. Caroline (Candice King) will reportedly appear to keep Klaus (Joseph Morgan) grounded for the upcoming final season of “The Originals.”
During the recently held Comic-Con, executive producer Julie Plec revealed that the blonde vampire would appear in Season 5 and will play a huge part in stopping Klaus’s falling to despair.
She shared that Caroline will appear as the headmistress in Hope's school, which will lead Klaus and Caroline to interact with one another. It will come to a point where Klaus will not be able to help himself from being depressed because of his family being tattered, so Caroline will be there for him and push him never to give up and to protect what is left of him.
