The pair has previously worked on such film projects as "Man of Steel" and "Sleepy Hollow". The show is set to focus on Superman's grandfather and is to be set on Superman's home planet. The series will take place about 200 years before the beginning of the Superman franchise. "Krypton" is due to be released in the new year. Casting includes such actors as Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Ian McElhinney and Elliot Cowan.

"Krypton" is to follow Superman's grandfather Seg-El. It is set on the superhero's home planet and takes place roughly 200 years before the beginning of Superman's own story. According to Den of Geek, the series will follow Seg-El's attempt redeem his family name. Seg-El's family has been ostracized and shamed in their community and Clark Kent's grandfather sets out to change this. He also has to deal with the chaos enveloping the world and planet he calls home.
According to Gizmodo, it has been confirmed that the DC comic book characters Adam Strange and Hawkwoman will be major characters in the upcoming series "Krypton". These characters have been sent back in time by unknown characters.
Their mission is to go to the planet "Krypton" before its untimely destruction and to protect the timeline of superhero Superman and his family, the House of El. They must complete this mission before time travelers in the present alter Supermans timeline so that the superhero never exists.
The cast and creators talk about the series
The show runner and cast of the show recently sat down at the San Diego Comic Convention where they teased their new series. Cameron Cuffe, who plays Seg-El, stated that he is very excited to play Superman's grandfather. He said that Superman is his favorite superhero and to be playing a character who is the origin of the superhero's story is beyond anything he ever expected.
Show runners also teased that the character of Hawkwoman in "Krypton" will in no way be connected to the character of Hawkgirl in "DC Legends of Tomorrow". It was also confirmed that the character of Brainiac will also be a major threat to the characters on the show and that Doomsday will also be featuring in the new series.
"Krypton" is due to be released on the small screen in 2018. Fans will have to wait until the new year for the highly anticipated Superman prequel.
