"Shot Caller" is an upcoming American crime movie which was directed and written by Ric Roman Waugh. The film is to follow the character of Jacob who is sent to prison after a fatal traffic accident. It follows Jacob's attempts to survive inside the prison. In order to survive he joins a prison gang and before he knows it he becomes embroiled in a new Life Of Crime inside the confines of jail. "Shot Caller" has already premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 16. The film received a great response and is due to be released to theaters next month in August.

Casting includes such actors as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Omari Hardwick, Emory Cohen and Jeffrey Donovan.

The movie consists of flashback moments

"Shot Caller" follows the character of Jacob as he deals with surviving life in prison. The beginning of the movie shows Jacob being released from jail after 10 years. According to Deadline, the movie to be told in flashback format as Jacob reflects on his time spent in prison. His earlier life was stable with a loving wife, an adorable kid, a great career and friends. Seeing this the audience of the movie will be greatly surprised at the transformation Jacob goes through in prison.

He gets into a traffic accident where one of the passengers, his best friend, is killed in the accident.

Jacob is charged with a DUI. The character is then later sentenced to prison and his life begins to spiral out of control. His time in prison greatly changes his character as his purpose in life simply becomes survival at any cost. Jacob joins a gang in prison and begins to steadily climb the ranks of the criminals in prison.

Once he is released from prison his former life has been utterly destroyed. He then turns to a life of crime one would not have originally predicted for his character.

The final movie in a trilogy

According to Variety, "Shot Caller" is the end to a movie trilogy created by Ric Roman Waugh. The two previous films in the trilogy were "Felon" and "Snitch".

The first movie of the trilogy was released in 2008 and nearly 10 years later directed Ric Roman is seeing the series come to an end. Waugh has stated that he is looking forward to seeing the response to the movie once it is brought out to theaters around the world. The trailer of the movie can be watched online.

"Shot Caller" was already premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival. The movie is due to be released in theaters next month on August 18. Fans of the previous two movies won't have to wait too long to see the highly anticipated sequel.
