After a long hiatus, the first trailer for "Riverdale" Season 2 was released at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. Things did not end peacefully in the season 1 finale, and fans are expecting a more complicated and troubled "Riverdale" season 2. As expected, the trailer shows Archie, Veronica, Jughead, and Betty in a hospital scene. Spoilers reveal that there might be a rekindling of old flames in the upcoming season 2, possibly between Veronica and her ex-boyfriend.

Aside from rekindling of old flames, new couples are also expected to emerge in "Riverdale" season 2.

Meanwhile, the possibility of Dark Veronica emerging in the next season is highly anticipated and it is expected to be fiercer and scarier than Dark Betty in season 1.

Full force at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con

According to Entertainment Weekly, the cast and some of the producers attended the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con to give the fans a heads-up on what's going to happen in the next season. KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Camila Mendes, Madeline Petsch and Ashleigh Murray were some of the main cast who attended the Comic-Con. They were also joined by series producers Sarah Schechter and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

The panel divulged some of the expected dynamics as well as introduced characters - both new and recurring and discussed their impact on the next season.

A hardened Archie Andrews and Cheryl Blossom are also expected to show up in season 2 which could be a result of their efforts to defend themselves against evil characters.

What happened to Fred Andrews?

The trailer begins with the main cast rushing into a hospital which leads to the scene where season 1 left off - when Fred Andrews was shot.

The fate of Archie's dad was one of the cliffhangers in season 1 finale and according to Robert Aguirre-Sacasa, the fate of Fred Andrews will be revealed at the end of the season 2 premiere episode.

Archie seems to be holding a secret about the shooting incident of his father, a secret that he intends to keep from his friends.

Meanwhile, Jughead came up with a theory that Fred Andrew's shooting incident might have been intentional and part of the many hits in town.

If that's the case, this could lead to questions about Fred's lifestyle or his past. Just like Jason Blossom, could Fred be the next target of a still unknown entity? All questions will soon be answered as "Riverdale" season 2 will premiere on October 11 on Netflix and The CW.
