"Pokémon GO" has been one of the most successful games of this decade. The video game, which became a social phenomenon, was a great success in the first three months after its launch. However, some updates required a considerable amount of space and not all players had mobile devices capable of accommodating the space needed, therefore, uninstalling the game seemed to be the best option.
As reported by Business Insider, the level of popularity achieved by the "Pokemon GO" app in the last few months has exceeded all expectations. Today, many video game companies have already started to develop similar projects.
The augmented reality game has not lost its popularity
When it was previously thought that the number of active players in "Pokémon GO" did not exceed five million worldwide, John Hanke, Niantic's CEO, surprised the world by saying that the Augmented Reality Game still has more than 65 million active users per month. Hanke denied reports that indicated that more than 80% of players had uninstalled the app. "Its been an incredible few weeks for Pokémon; we have been recognized as the best mobile video game by the British Academy of Film and Television. We get inspired by the passion of more than 65 million people around the world who play “Pokémon GO” every month. Undoubtedly, this commits us to continue improving," said Niantic's CEO.
Additional information:
For now, Niantic hopes to continue developing the game, which, according to the company, is at its best. According to Niantic's developers, the company wants to bring back players that left because of bugs in the latest updates, especially those who think the game stayed the same and did not offer new experiences.
Niantic is preparing a series of new events for the anniversary celebration with many surprises in store -- one of them could be the arrival of the legendary Pokémon.
Aside from this, an interesting fact to take into account is that the Eggs System has also changed. It is worth mentioning that Hanke has said that long-awaited features like player-versus-player and Pokémon trading are coming sooner rather than later.
If and when Niantic delivers, it should go a long way toward keeping players engaged and enticing former players to return.
This is all the information known so far. Keep enjoying the game, and stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
