"Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans has been candid about her addiction to heroin, which caused her to give up custody of her eldest son, Jace, to her mother, Barbara. The star has admitted to using the drug many times with former boyfriends, especially with ex-husband Courtland Rogers, whom she was sentenced to jail with over her heroin use. Jenelle has recently penned a memoir, Read Between the Lines, where she gets incredibly personal about her time with her drug of choice, opening up about a particularly scary time in which she almost died from taking the drug.

Close to death

Jenelle writes in her new book that one of her worst heroin episodes occurred when she was still with ex-boyfriend, Kieffer Delp. Fans of "Teen Mom 2" will likely remember Kieffer, especially as the pair were often high together. At one point during the series, Jenelle's mother, Barb, found the two on the porch and had a field day with Kieffer and Jenelle telling them that they were both high and shouldn't be on her property.

Jenelle's worst experience with heroin came when visiting Kieffer's family in New Jersey, though it is unclear if this is the trip that Jenelle and Kieffer stole Barbara's credit card to go on.

The pair were at Kieffer's mother's house when Jenelle says she blacked out for several hours after taking a high dose of heroin.

The star says she was so appalled by what happened that she ended up going back to her mother's house in North Carolina and quitting heroin cold turkey.

Jenelle withdrawals

Jenelle explains withdrawal as the worst flu you've ever had for a week straight. While In Touch Weekly reports that withdrawal without medical supervision can sometimes end in death, the star was able to do it at her mother's house without any long term consequences.

She described the process as having insomnia, being unable to eat, panic attacks, joint aches and hot and cold sweats.

The star has now been sober for several years, but it took her a long time to get there. She is still facing her demons from her time on heroin, as she is still unable to have full custody of her son, Jace.

She and her mother are still battling it out, and their relationship has become fractured for life due to the issues they have with one another over Jace's custody. Recently, the pair worked out an agreement so that they have visitation orders in writing so that neither party can use him as a pawn as they both are guilty of having done in the past.
