Jon Snow finally meets Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones” Season 7 Episode 3. HBO has released a preview for the upcoming episode, which hints at a massive battle to come between Cersei and the Mother of Dragons.
The meeting
Costume designer Michele Clapton has since revealed in a previous interview that Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) will meet in Season 7. Now we finally get a look at their said encounter in the trailer for Episode 3, titled “The Queen’s Justice.” Nearing the end of the preview, we see Missandei and Tyrion Lannister escort Jon and Ser Davos into Daenerys’ court.
One can see the curious look on both the men’s faces as they see the Mother of Dragons sitting on what used to be the Iron Throne.
What brings Jon Snow to Daenerys’ court in “Game of Thrones” Season 7 Episode 3?
Consequences that led to their meeting remain unknown. However, fans speculate it has something to do with the new ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. One popular theory is that Jon and Daenerys will become allies in defeating Cersei Lannister. Jon Snow has his reasons (personal ones) for wanting to take down Cersei while Daenerys wants the Iron Throne. As what she said in the trailer, “I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms and I will.”
Likewise, the synopsis for “The Queen’s Justice” hints that a meeting among the different leaders happens in Episode 3.
Daenerys holds court, possibly to strategize on how she can take back the Seven Kingdoms from Cersei Lannister.
How Jon presents himself to the Mother of Dragons
Michele Clapton told Uproxx that when Jon meets Daenerys, he appears to her, not as the new King of the North. He makes himself seem vulnerable, and he shows this by not wearing his cape, which in itself represents power.
“There are times when we removed it because we wanted him to be more vulnerable. Especially, I think, when he saw Dany, and he went to see her for the first time in her chamber,” Clapton said.
What else the trailer for “Game of Thrones” Season 7 Episode 3 tells us
Aside from Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen’s meeting, the preview reveals a massive battle happens with Euron Greyjoy seemingly taking the lead for Cersei’s army.
Cersei is aware of Daenerys’ presence and wants to be prepared. She instigates the war as what she says in the preview, “The war’s already begun. I’ve drawn first blood.”
Of course, Daenerys knows that Cersei is ready for battle. Tyrion warns her about the threat of her army. However, the Mother of Dragons is not afraid and has come prepared to do whatever it takes to take back the Iron Throne.
