Former Dance Moms lead instructor and lead choreographer, Abby Lee Miller, 50, has reported to prison on July 12 to start serving her prison term following her bankruptcy fraud case. In May 2017, she was sentenced to a year and a day in jail and two years of supervised released for hiding roughly $800,000 of her income from her TV projects and others. The dance reality star has bluntly criticized the producers of the show when she resigned and said that they mistreated and disrespected her at the height of her career. Now that she has started her jail time, it doesn’t mean that she’s not doing anything while in prison.

The show goes on

The “Dance Moms” reality star recently announced on Instagram that her dance company, Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC), is looking for dancers to audition in her new dance competition. According to her post, the show titled "Competition Team" is directed by Gianna Martello.

"National's rocked and so did the ALDC LA studio,” reads the caption. “Now it's time to audition - this THURSDAY in class with Miss @giannamartello and Mr Guy @guygroove Don't miss it!”

The former “Dance Moms” instructor’s announcement about her new dance competition left fans surprised especially since she just landed in prison a day before she announced the competition. It can be recalled that while Abby Lee Miller was waiting for her prison sentence, she was still hard at work with different projects.

However, nobody expects that she will have a dance competition even if she’s already in prison. This certainly means that she has already planned this out with dance experts Gianna Martello and Guy Amir before she reported to prison.

The dance instructor remains positive in life

Before the “Dance Moms” star reported to jail, she told Entertainment Tonight that she wanted to have some fun and laughter.

Miller said that once she starts serving her jail time, it would be different for her, but she will have more time for herself. She went on to say that in the past, she has always put the girls first before herself, but in prison it’s going to be just her that she will focus on.

“Everybody else was dressed and out the door and looking perfect, and I was running around trying to find a clean towel to take a shower with, so I think this will be a little 'me' time," she said.

“Dance Moms” Season 7B is now being lead by Cheryl Burke temporarily following Miller’s exit from the show. The season 8 air date is yet to be determined.
