Briana DeJesus has been added to the cast of "Teen Mom 2" as the series' fifth personality alongside Jenelle Evans, Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer, and Chelsea Houska. While news of DeJesus' addition first began swirling earlier this year, it wasn't until June 5 when MTV finally confirmed the cast shakeup.
As fans of the MTV franchise will recall, DeJesus was first featured on "16 & Pregnant" and later cast in "Teen Mom 3" with Mackenzie McKee, Katie Yeager, and Alexandria Sekella. However, while the franchise's first installments, "Teen Mom" and "Teen Mom 2" were instant hits, the third installment failed to resonate with viewers, and after just one season, the series was canceled.
On June 5, Hollywood Life shared a statement from MTV in regard to Briana DeJesus' addition to the show. In the statement, the network revealed that the eighth season of "Teen Mom 2" was coming with a major twist as a new mom was added to the cast for the first time in the show's history.
What has Briana DeJesus been up to since fans last saw her?
According to Monday's report, the reality star has been focused on her five-year-old daughter, Nova, since wrapping filming years ago. As fans will recall, DeJesus' relationship with Nova's father was extremely strained throughout her reality run, and Devoin Austin doesn't appear to have a big role in Nova's life -- if he has one at all. Instead, DeJesus has help from her mother and sister.
Although DeJesus is no longer involved in a romance with Austin, she isn't single. As the Hollywood Life report explained, she is currently enjoying a new romance with a man named Luis as she attempts to juggle parenting and her relationship with her career.
Briana DeJesus is pregnant with her second child
In MTV's statement, the network reveals that in the midst of her balancing act, DeJesus finds herself pregnant with her second child.
A short time later, the reality star's world is further rocked when she discovers some shocking news about Luis. In turn, DeJesus is reportedly forced to make "one of the hardest decisions a mother can face, in order to provide the best life for her new child."
Throughout her pregnancy, DeJesus has shared photos of her baby bump on Instagram and Snapchat.
