Ryan Gosling is adding trophy to his list of achievements as he has reportedly formed his own production company with Ken Kao named Arcana. Currently, "The Notebook" star and "The Nice Guys" actor is collaborating on Arcana's first project, "The Favourite." The upcoming project of Arcana has reportedly tapped Ryan Gosling's "La La Land" co-star, Emma Stone. The working relationship of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone has come a long way since they both starred as on-screen lovers in "Crazy, Stupid Love" and it is highly understandable why the latter has been asked to play the lead role in "The Favourite."
Aside from Emma Stone, "The Favourite" will also star Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz.
The project is already in production and has recently wrapped up principal photography in the UK.
Emma Stone is Ryan Gosling's "favorite"
"The Favourite" is based on a script penned by Tony McNamara and Deborah Davis about the political and personal life of Queen Anne's reign. The royalty in the spotlight is the last monarch of the House of Stuarts.
For Ryan Gosling's first venture into film and TV production, director Yorgos Lanthimos of "The Lobster" has been tasked to take hold of the reigns. It appears that Ryan Gosling and Ken Kaos are willing to go all out in their launching project, tapping a director who just won the best screenplay award at` Cannes for "The Killing Of A Sacred Deer."
Great connections and collaboration
Ryan Gosling's decision to venture into the film and TV production has definitely placed another feather in his already well-decorated hat.
According to reports, "The Nice Guys" actor will also be collaborating with Ed Guiney, Lee Magiday and Ceci Dempsey from Element Pictures and Scarlet Films respectively.
Arcana is not the first collaboration of Ryan Gosling and Ken Kao since they have already partnered in the detective thriller, "The Nice Guys" and Terrence Malick's "Song To Song." After "The Favourite," Arcana will be working on the adaptation of the acclaimed graphic novel, "The Underwater Welder."
Unique and diverse
According to reports, Ryan Gosling and Ken Kao's Arcana aims to produce unique and diverse materials, less of mainstream movies and focusing more on indie and adaptations of highly-acclaimed novels.
The "Blue Valentine" actor will be seen on the big screen soon in "Blade Runner 2049" with Harrison Ford. Meanwhile, Ken Kao will still continue to run his own production company, Waypoint Entertainment and Bloom, together with Alex Walton.
