One Direction reunion might be happening soon as latest reports claimed that Simon Cowell asked the members of the famous boy band to share their singing talent to aid the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

According to Express UK, two of the four members have reportedly agreed and confirmed their participation for the cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, while the other two members are still finding time in their busy schedules to participate as well in the charity project.

Based on the article released by the UK-based news media Metro, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have agreed to participate in the project while Niall Horan and Harry Styles are “trying to free up their time,” to make the One Direction reunion possible.

For starters, One Direction is a boy band group who made songs like “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Perfect,” “Drag Me Down,” and “Story of My Life,” who has been on hiatus since 2016. Most of the members have started their own career as solo musicians.

Reunion for a cause

If these reports are true, Metro stated that the One Direction reunion will be an important addition to the collaboration of famous artists like Celine Dion, James Blunt, Louisa Johnson, Rita Ora, James Arthur, Carl Barat, Robbie Williams, Craig David, Emeli Sande, Skepta, Stormzy and The Who.

"If all four [One Direction] came on board, it would be as solo acts as Liam has to record in the US," an insider reportedly told The Sun.

Simon Cowell announced via Twitter his hopes of gathering artists to help raise money for the victims of the London fire disaster. He reportedly made calls to several artists who will be up for the charity project. He also shared his heartbreak about the tragedy.

Charity track to be released on June 21

In a report by NME, Simon Cowell’s charity single will be released on Wednesday, June 21. It had been reported to be released on Sunday, June 19, but it was pushed back in order to let Celine Dion and Robbie Williams contribute their vocals to the song.

Previously, artists like Craig David, James Blunt, Carl Barat, Emeli Sande, Rita Ora and Craig David were seen heading to Notting Hill studio for the recording.

Philippa Tomson, Good Morning Britain presenter wrote on Twitter regarding the release date of the charity track: “Artists for Grenfell charity single – available for download on Wed from 8 am. Exactly a week after the disaster. It’s sounding incredible.”
