Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have been feuding for a very long time. However, the public can't figure out what the Feud is about. It has been going on for so long, they probably have forgotten why they are feuding. Even so, on Saturday, June 10, Perry decided to forgive and apologize to Swift during an interview with Arianna Huffington.
Katy said during the interview that she is ready to let it go and she forgives Taylor. She said that she is sorry for anything she did. She added that she loves Taylor and wants the best for her. Then she complimented the singer by saying she is a fantastic songwriter and a strong woman.
Katy said what she had to say, and began singing "Let It Go" from "Frozen."
The feud
What was the publicized feud about between the two successful singers who used to be buddies? The feud started a few years ago over a conflict about their singers' backup dancers. Swift didn't publicly mention Perry's name, but in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, she alluded to someone sabotaging her tour by trying to hire a bunch of her people right from under her. After that, Katy accused Taylor of trying to assassinate her character.
Digital Spy's Entertainment reporter Naomi Gordon gives a timeline of the singers' feud that dates back to 2009 when the two women used to tweet each other kind words. The lovely tweets continued on a regular basis from 2009 to 2011.
Taylor Swift dated musician John Mayer, but by 2010 they had split. Then in 2012, Katy and John began dating after her marriage failed with Russell Brand. That was the same year when three of Katy's "California Dreams" world tour dancers began dancing for Taylor's 2012 world tour when she was promoting her "Red" album.
Katy's people reached out to see if her original dancers would perform on her world tour for her album "Prism" that was released in 2013.
All three of the dancers agreed to return to dance for Katy because they had a better relationship with her after being with her for almost three years before they went with Taylor. Besides, they said it was boring with Taylor because they didn't do that much dancing with her anyway.
Shortly after their decision to switch shows, the dancers noticed that Taylor stopped communicating with them on Twitter, and she eventually removed them from her tour.
After that, the two singers began to tweet cryptic messages and include jabs at one another in their songs.
Katy wants to end the feud
Katy, 32, has tried to end the feud more than once. On May 22, 2017 when she went on James Corden's "Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Special" she told Corden that it was time for the feud to end even though Taylor, 27, started the feud. In fact, Katy has tried to talk to her, but Taylor has not responded.
