After six months in the White House, Donald Trump continues to face increased criticism from those who oppose his political agenda. His critics who have large followings use their popularity to speak out against the president, including actor George Takei.

Takei on Trump

When Donald Trump stood on the floor in Trump Tower back in June 2015, he did so with his family by his side and announced that he was running for president.

Once he brought up the issue of immigration, Trump quickly raised eyebrows when he labeled those who enter the United States illegally from Mexico as "murderers" and "rapists." Within minutes, the majority of Hollywood spoke-out against the former host of "The Apprentice," with many accusing him of being a racist and a bigot. In the two years that have followed, the American people have been spit in their views, with supporters defending his every move, while his critics hold his feet to the fire on a daily basis. Following his election win over Hillary Clinton, Trump and Hollywood have only continued to butt heads.

It has become common place for actors, musicians, and other celebrities to speak out against the new president, with many using social media to express their views to the millions who follow them. One name that has made ripping into the president and almost daily habit has been George Takei, who continued to do so during a series of June 21 tweets.

While many stories involving Donald Trump have dominated the news cycle in recent weeks, one that didn't get too much attention was the president deciding to cancel is trip to the United Kingdom, reportedly due to the expected backlash upon his arrival. With the billionaire real estate mogul continuing to push back against those who oppose him, he has found a political safe space on Fox News and with other conservative commentators who defend his agenda.

Knowing this, George Takei deciding to take a shot at the president on social media.

"Donald is afraid of protests in the UK. Just like he only watches Fox News & holds rallies in areas he won--he's scared to leave his bubble," George Takei tweeted out. In an additional tweet, Takei then shifted his attention to the growing Russian scandal, while highlighting an article focusing on Michael Flynn's link to the Kremlin. "There's a reason Donald went to such lengths to try to shut down the Flynn investigation-the truth will out, friends," he wrote.

Moving forward

While George Takei and other high-profiled critics of the president continue to push back and attack his agenda, Donald Trump is still denying any wrongdoing. Labeling any reports he doesn't like as "fake news," the commander in chief shows no signs of leaving his alleged "bubble" of conservative media and right-wing talking points.
